I am a friend of Bickle

March 10, 2008 by Mark

Last night I had a dream that Heidi and I had moved to Kansas City to become a part of IHOP-KC, a 24/7 worship and intercession missions base. When we got there, Mike Bickle gave me a personal tour of the base. I met Justin Rizzo, Audra Lynn, and hundreds of intercessory missionaries that had made Kansas City their home. I was overjoyed to be a part of this community of intercessors, ministering before the Lord in a continual flame of worship and intercession.

The dream must have lasted for an hour to an hour and a half. When I woke up, it was around 4:30am. I was suddenly awakened and sat up in bed. I felt a chill rise up my back and hit my head like a hammer. I heard the voice of the Lord speak to me:

Will you burn before me in worship and intercession? Will you join the company of Elijah’s prophets? Will you open your lips and call forth the winds of revival?

I was stunned. How do you answer questions like that? Of course I said yes - not fully realizing the full significance of the encounter.

Two things stood out to me about this dream:

1. There were HUNDREDS of intercessors and prophetic worshipers at the missions base - far more than now live on the base.
2. I just had a dream the night before that I was hired at Google.

This dream is a clear call from the Lord. Will I pursue the life of a database administrator, or will I pursue the life of an intercessor? Although one does not necessarily preclude the other, one MUST have my affections. This is what the Lord was concerned with.

Please pray that I will find clarity of meaning concerning this dream. Pray also that I make the correct decision - to be consumed with and identified by the life of an intercessor.

God, have mercy on our nation

I’ve heard the news I’ve dreaded this entire year: Mike Huckabee has dropped out of the GOP. With McCain as the Republican candidate, it looks like we’re going to have a Democratic president. This is terrifying news, as Hillary Clinton’s lead in both Ohio and Texas gives her a good chance of securing the democratic vote. Nothing good can come of this. I am truly in the pains of travail for my nation.

God, have mercy on our nation. Put godly leaders in charge of our nation, and reinstate the principles of holiness and integrity upon which this nation was founded. Lord, bring revival to our land, and overturn the legislation of demonic oppression in our land. Jesus, stop the blood guilt of our nation. Save our children, and bring our nation into alignment with your Word. Speak clearly to the hearts of men and women all across this nation. Let your character be seen in this nation, and let your glory fill the earth. Make yourself known, and establish yourself as sovereign over the nations of the earth.

Most of all, Lord Jesus, we say come back soon. We long to dwell where your dwell, and to be a part of the Kingdom of Heaven. We long to worship you and live under your leadership. Jesus, the Spirit and the Bride say “come.”

Intercession for Botswana

February 22, 2008 by Mark

The other day I met a missionary couple at the Bed and Breakfast named Carl and Bonnie Clark. After spending 23 years on the mission field in South Africa, they decided they had earned retirement. They spent one very hard year in the States before realizing that the Lord had other plans for their retirement. They sold their house, packed up their stuff, and are now preparing to serve the Lord in Botswana full time.

I am always encouraged when I meet missionaries. After spending our first year of marriage on the mission field, foreign missions will always have a special place in my heart. If the Lord wills, we may see foreign shores again one day, if only short-term.

I wanted to take the time to post a little prayer for the Clarks as they travel back to Africa. Lord Jesus, I thank you for calling your servants with clarity back into service in foreign missions. We know, Lord, that if you have called them now and with such a clear calling, that you must have amazing plans for their time there. Lord, we thank you for what you are about to do through this sweet couple. Lord, we pray for boldness, and an abundant harvest. Give them grace to learn the language quickly, and to integrate with the culture organically. We pray that your Spirit would go before them, Lord, to prepare the hearts of the people so they have good soil to sow and water. Lord, we pray for an outpouring of your Holy Spirit like you promised in the last days. We pray that you would raise up a movement of intercession among the nationals. Lord, as the people of Botswana turn to you, we pray that you would burden them to pray. We pray that you would raise up national leadership, men and women full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, that would walk with the Clarks in integrity and uprightness, preaching the gospel with boldness accompanied by signs and wonders. Lord, we know that you have a work prepared for this couple that they would not believe even if they were told. I pray that you would increase their anointing one hundred fold as they step off the plane and that you yourself would draw the people as they preach the Word and display your Kingdom in practical acts of mercy. Jesus, be glorified in this couple, and make your Name known in the country of Botswana. Its in the Name of Jesus we pray.
